The Chief Operating Officer oversees all internal functions, serving a key role at DBWPC, helping shape and deliver on the strategic imperatives of the organization. The COO is a trusted advisor to the CEO/President and senior leadership and ensures that DBWPC, Inc. has the appropriate operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to sustainably pursue the agency’s mission and uphold its values. The COO provides strategic leadership in financial planning, operational efficiency, human capital management and long-term sustainability. The COO serves as the backup to finance, human resources, and compliance operations staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Directs and oversees day-to-day internal operations of DBWPC, Inc. Analyzes internal operations and identifies areas for process enhancement for organizational efficiency and efficacy. Implements strategies that align with short and long term mission critical objectives, in collaboration with the CEO. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures related to personnel, finance, safety, and compliance matters that comply with all federal and state regulations and reflect organizational values and culture. Assists operations staff and removes barriers to them being able to accomplish their essential tasks. Provides CEO/President with ongoing analysis of agency performance and makes recommendations regarding leadership priorities. Collaborates with the CEO/President through the annual budgeting process, manages the budget, and reviews financials to ensure fidelity of resources. Advises leadership team and supervisors on personnel issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances, etc. Works with information technology and information systems contractors and vendors to develop and implement an information systems program that ensures use of appropriate information systems technology in all areas, including (in conjunction with the Human Resource Director) keeping all related agency policy and procedures up to date and distributed to employees. Procures, manages, and evaluates external vendors, particularly information systems providers, insurance carriers, attorneys, and facilities managers. Ensures that appropriate financial controls are in place and being followed. Ensures resources and training are available to staff per the contract requirements and overall strategic plan. In conjunction with the Human Resources Director, consults with legal counsel as appropriate or as directed by the CEO/President on personnel and compliance matters. Ensures setup for board meetings, communicates with board members, maintains board meeting documentation, and ensures compliance with agency bylaws. Ensures and maintains compliance with all nonprofit and business function federal, state and local requirements and regulations. Supports grant application and reporting processes when needed. Secondary Functions Backup for essential functions of Finance Director, Human Resources Director and Operations Manager. Supports organizational fundraising efforts, including but not limited to events and donor cultivation. Education and Experience Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in work experience field. 10 years’ related work experience in nonprofit. 5 or more years executive experience in nonprofit finance, government contract, human resources or operations. Expertise in budget management, strategic planning and compliance. Individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for the position. Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree in work experience field.
